Electricity power outage lingers


 



        Residents of gwallameji community in Bauchi has appealed the  State Government to assist them with a power transformer in the community. This is  to enhance the stability of light around the small gate area of gwallameji.


The call was made by the village head of gwallameji,Sarki Mallam Sanusi Muhammad Sani during an interview with the news men from Mass communication department of Federal Poly bauchi.


According to him,for over a month now,part of the community has been facing serious challenge over electricity power outage.adding that this area has not seen a blink of light in their houses for this period.


         Sarki, further stated that the transformer supplying light to this area has remained faulty after several effort made by the PHCN to repair it.


          He however called on Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed to help them by providing a new transformer.This h see said will help I'm terms of security at night as the community has been facing theft and burglary at nights.

Lecturers of survey and Geo informatics Technology of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has claimed to have and still experiencing some set backs in teaching survey and Geo-informatics technology in the polytechnic.Stating the lack of sufficient technological equipment as the most difficulty faced.This was disclosed by Mallam Abubakar Abdullahi,who is a lecturer and GIS coordinator of the department. Abubakar said "one of the most challenges faced by this department is lack of sufficient technological equipments used for practicals,there are equipments,but some of these are outdated and need to be upgraded to the recent technology". Moreso,he emphasized on the need that students should not only be taught theories,but pratcicals with the right equipments which is part of knowledge transfer that will enhance more understanding from the students."we teach the students using these basc technological equipments,if students can have these latest technologu, knowledge would be better understand " He also mentioned that since some of these latest technological equipments are not available, lecturers are therefore entailed to put in extra effort to explain verbally to the students topics that should be practically taught. In another development,Mallam Muhammad Oshomo who is also a lecturer in the department said that, there is usually a challenge when it comes to "language use" faced by the lecturers in teaching the course. Mohammed said that students who do not have a good background knowledge of English language intend to make lecturers explain at length to these student's understanding while exhausting lecture hours."when a student who has been use to Hausa language comes to class, understanding the lecturers done with good English vocabulary may be difficult",he said. Furthermore,he said that some aspects of the curriculum in teaching survey and Geo-informatics in Nigeria has not been upgraded to the current technology of the world. He said this has lowered the interest of most students of the department as they say the course theories alone limits their knowledge, preferring practicals to show. He also mentioned that the funding is another challenge faced.Stating that the federal government allocates insuffiecients funds to theses section of study in the higher institutions in Nigeria generally. In the same vein,Mr kashimga Johnson,a lecturer of the department said that the course riguors makes it quite another difficulty as the study entails a lot of time spent on field work which has made teaching students quite challenging and time consuming This is the news report, I'm Kabuk Ruth Bitrus

Shop Owners Laments Over Increase in Price of Goods


Shop owners in gwallameji area of Bauchi state have lamented over the massive increase in prices of goods and services,as they claim that has resulted to low sales and demand of those goods from the final consumers-students especially

Furthermore,a shop owner , Mr Chibuike Cosmos has expressed dismay over the situation in the country which has affected thier sales profit,he said,"right now we are just selling to sell,no profit at all.I used to buy in large cartons but at the moment I can only afford a few and it takes longer to sell due to low demand".

More so,he stated that ,there comes a look of disappointment when customers come to the purchase goods and find out that the prices have increased.He said "some people will even hiss at u when u tell them the new price of the goods"

Similarly, Mrs Alheri who is also a shop owner stated out how much she tries to convince customers hard before goods are bought as the price increases.she said,some times I talk so much before some buy, while I end up quarrelling with others without selling".
